Bewertung: - Für mich das beste Horby Buch
Für mich ist dieses Buch das absolut beste von Nick Hornby. Es handelt von Rob, Besitzer eines schlecht laufenden Plattenladens, der eines Tages von seiner Freundin wegen eines anderen Mannes verlassen wird. Enttäuscht stellt Rob nun seine Top 5 "Schmerzhaftesten Trennungen" auf und er nimmt sich vor bei all diesen 5 Frauen herrauszufinden, warum die Beziehung in die Brüche ging. Dadurch nimmt der Leser an Rob's Vergangenheit Teil, welche witzig ist und viele überraschende Momente hat. Ich kann dieses Buch wirklich Jedem empfehlen...

Bewertung: - Ein wunderschönes Buch über die großen und kleinen Probleme des Lebens
Humorvoll und doch mit Tiefgang beschreibt Nick Hornby die Schicksale von vier Selbstmordkandidaten, die sich, als diese ihrem Leben ein Ende setzen wollen, kreuzen. Aus dem eigentlich geplanten Ende, wird jedoch ein gemeinsamer Neuanfang zurück ins Leben. Dies beschreibt Nick Hornby mit seinem einzigartigen Sinn für die leisen Töne aber auch mit seinem treffenden Blick für komische Situationen.
Ein Buch, dass man von Anfang bis Ende mit Genuss liest und dass ich nur empfehlen kann!

Bewertung: - Not as good as expected
Wiewohl viele Passagen zugegebenermassen wirklich witzig geschrieben sind ist das Buch m.E. insgesamt recht langweilig. Rob duempelt vor sich hin, unzufrieden mit seinem Leben aber nicht wirklich Willens, etwas zu aendern. Irgendwann empfand ich Rob (trotzdem er grundsaetzlich sympathisch ist) als ziemlichen Looser und merkte regelrecht, wie meine Sympathie abnahm. Logisch, es kann nicht nur erfolgreiche und tolle Menschen geben aber Menschen wie Rob, die keinerlei Ehrgeiz aufbringen, sind irgendwie muehsam.

Nick Hornby manages it to thrill the reader by telling about things that happen to everybody everyday..It is impressing how often I could find myself in the protagonist Rob.It was the way and structure of his thoughts, which were pretty similar to mine and I bet to the thinking of every other man too. It is a book that explains why men are as they are and Hornby's explanations are so funny and striking at the same time that it made me laugh ou more than any other book I have read. I would also recommend to fans of HORNBY to check out THE FATES by TINO GEORGIOU HIghly recommend!!!

Bewertung: - no painting of a hero, but description of soul
This was quite an impressive description of man's life story, sympathetic and emotional as well as thrilling and ridiculous, including his relationships, sorrows, troubles, passions, but always becoming a honest picture of 'normal life'... Excellent. Enjoy it!
