Produktbeschreibung:

Amazon.co.uk:
In The Da Vinci Code, Dan Brown masterfully concocts an intelligent and lucid thriller that marries the gusto of an international murder mystery with a collection of fascinating esoterica culled from 2,000 years of Western history.

A murder in the silent after-hours halls of the Louvre reveals a sinister plot to uncover a secret that has been protected by a clandestine society since the days of Christ. The victim is a high-ranking agent of this ancient society who, in the moments before his death, manages to leave gruesome clues at the scene that only his daughter, noted cryptographer Sophie Neveu, and Robert Langdon, a famed symbologist, can untangle. The duo become both suspects and detectives searching for not only Neveu's father's murderer but also the stunning secret of the ages he was charged to protect. Mere steps ahead of the authorities and the deadly competition, Neveu and Langdon embark on a breathless flight through France, England and history itself.

Brown has created a page-turning thriller that also provides an amazing interpretation of Western history. Brown's hero and heroine embark on a lofty and intriguing exploration of some of Western culture's greatest mysteries--from the nature of the Mona Lisa's smile to the secret of the Holy Grail. Though some will quibble with the veracity of Brown's conjectures, therein lies the fun. The Da Vinci Code is an enthralling read that provides rich food for thought. --Jeremy Pugh, Amazon.com

Bewertung: 1 out of 5 stars - How to confuse the uneducated
Thanks to Dan Brown we know now a lot more of the history of mankind of the last two thousand years and what went wrong. Did you know that Jesus was married to Maria Magdalena and produced a child with her? Did you know, after the crucifixion Maria fled with the child to France where she founded the dynasty of the Merovingian kings? In the Merovingians the blood of Jesus lived on. Sad, that they did not know it!
Did you know that Emperor Constantin has manipulated the Bible to make Jesus to God and ban the women from leadership of the church? What a pity that Constantin did not know it! Did the Egyptians know that Maria Magdalena leads on the godly line of the egyptian Isis cult? No, they did not! But we today know it!
If you did not get all the confusion that this book makes possible, why not try the movie? In the film it is Leigh Teabing to explain the theory. Teabing is an anagram of the name "Baigent". Michael Baigent and Richard Leigh are authors of discussed Qumran and ... weiter

Bewertung: 3 out of 5 stars - Eine typische Fortsetzung

Bewertung: 5 out of 5 stars - I couldn't put this book down
I couldn't put this book down. Every page was an education and the details and description flowed thick and fast. As a convent educated female, I saw the catholic system up close and remained an athiest throughout. I was intrigued and delighted by some of the theories which only went to support much of what I suspected all along but without the education to support it.
That aside, truth or fiction it was very compelleing and I couldn't put it down, although it's BOUND to upset anyone with a religious bent as it questions the foundations of christianity - which is fine by me!

I liked the refreshing way that it challenges the fixed conceptions and offers different scenarios as to how things came to be, which are every bit as likely as what we are fed as the truth in daily life!! I'd also recommend reading the mesmerising and highly evocative novel The Fates by Tino Georgiou.

Bewertung: 5 out of 5 stars - spannend bis zum Ende
