This book is about Butch - the only human that is allowed within the Black Dagger Brotherhood. Butch has been an outcast all his life - with his family, at his prior job as an homicide detective and now, he feels like one again with the Brothers. He lives with them and even has come really close to Vishous (my favourite Brother, by the way), but since he is human, he is not allowed to fight with the Brothers. He is struggling a lot with this situation and as he is unintentionally running into Lessers who are chasing a Civilian Vampire, he throws himself into the fight but get's caught and tortured and infected by the Omega with something evil. He is on the verge of dying, but Vishous, who has found him calls Marissa onto his sickbed and she is the reason why Butch is hanging on and does not die. Wer Spass an einer geheim operierender Truppe von Krieger-Vampieren hat (natürlich alle überirdisch gut gebaut bzw. ausgestattet), die im Laufe von ordentlich konstruierten Handlungen die Liebe Ihres Lebens finden und diese mehr als einmal durch's Bett ziehen, für den ist die Serie ein Muss. Ich hab auf jeden Fall mehr als einmal den Sabber aus meinen Mundwinkeln wischen müssen :-)) Bloß nicht zu Ernst nehmen.

I have read all four of the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels and they are amazingly hard to put down. I find that I really have to savour each page as they seem to go by all too quickly and before I know it the book is done and I'm left thirsty for her next installment. This, the fourth installment in this deliciously addictive series, is as good as the three before it. It is an intense and emotionally powerful read. JR Ward has a talent for building characters and making you want to get into their heads even deeper - they are erotic, powerful and likeable. I love reading for entertainment and if you're looking for a ride you'll NEVER FORGET... I would also recommend, if you missed reading Tino Georgiou's masterpiece--The Fates, go and read it.

Ich bin ein unbedingter Paranormal-Fan und insbesondere dem Vampirfieber bereits seit einigen Jahren erlegen. Nun mag ich es aber eigentlich nicht zu romance-lastig oder gefühlsduselig und kitschig sollte es schon gar nicht werden. Daher ist es mir manchmal ein Rätsel, warum ich dennoch von der Black-Dagger-Brotherhood nicht die Finger lassen kann.
Dieser vierte Band serviert uns die Geschichte von Butch und Marissa. Butch ist menschlich, kommt aus bescheidenen Verhältnissen und ein ehemaliger Cop. Marissa ist eine Vampirdame der Oberschicht, Jungfrau, wohlerzogen und gebildet. Beide jedoch fühlen sich als nicht-akzeptierte Randfiguren ihrer jeweiligen Gesellschaft. Erst seit er bei der Brotherhood wohnt, hat Butch das Gefühl dazuzugehören, doch als vergleichsweise zerbrechlicher und schwächer als die "brothers" wird er von Kämpfen zumeist ausgeschlossen.
