Das Racing Wing ist das Ergebnis langjähriger Erfahrung und zahlreicher Siege in internationalen Wettkämpfen. Grivel hat einen neuen Griff mit drei neuen Griffpositionen entwickelt. Auf Zug wird das Handgelenk in vertikalen und überhängenden Seillängen entspannt und Ermüdung auf lange Sicht wesentlich verringert. Die Schlagposition unterstützt durch den weiter geöffneten Schaft den natürlichen Bogen im Ansatz und fördert dadurch konstante Kraft. Die Position zum Anpassen ermöglicht ein Einstellen des Gerätes (zum Verteilen der Kraft auf beide Arme) oder das Wechseln des Gerätes von einer in die andere. Das positive Kopf-Schaft-Gewichtsverhältnis beschleunigt die Zuggeschwindigkeit zum Eindringen in hartes Eis. Die großzügige Bewegungsfreiheit bewältigt ungünstigste Geländeformen. Grivel war Pionier in Sachen Klettern ohne Handschlaufe und das Racing Wing ist das Topgerät ohne Handschlaufe schlechthin.

We developed this generation of ice tool specifically for technical climbing on all of the world’s mountains. The deep clearance curve cheats past radical terrain barriers without levering the pick out of the ice. The shaft is covered with a new non-slip grip material, handle made of pure silicone. An adjustable “trigger” distributes weight onto the strongest finger and the ergonomic “Horn” supports the hand, protecting it from violent blows against the wall. It also is a safe and balanced support for the ice axe against ice. The Horn can be detached when a completely free spike is requested. The first tool tested on the new winter 2003/2004 game: the “total dry”. The Taa-k-oon is a must have for “leashless” climbing.

Anatomically-shaped, natural rubber grip features a "pommel" to support the hand whether climbing with a leash or without.
